A lighting program is followed from day one of the chickens life until the end. The lighting program ensures that all the pullets in the shed reach sexual maturity simultaneously (+-19 weeks of age) in order to start laying eggs at the same time and ensures that the hen carries on producing eggs consistently following industry standards until the end of lay.
A production chart is a graph where one records the performance of one’s hens in a shed. The average percentage of eggs produced, eggs per hen housed, feed intake (consumption), and egg mass are plotted weekly with the industry standards in order to observe and record the progress of a layer shed.
